Hello. My name is kome.
This time, I will try to translate the past article “Noboribetsu Onsen Walk ①” into English, and try to send information about Noboribetsu Onsen to people overseas (o ^^ o)

At Noboribetsu Onsen, you can see people from various countries visiting for sightseeing.
Before traveling abroad, I enjoyed preparing for the trip with reference to local blogs and walk videos.
I would be pleased if you could use it as a reference so that overseas tourists can enjoy preparing for travel without anxiety by sending information about Noboribetsu Onsen in English.

Basically I can't speak English.I would appreciate it if you could forgive me for some strangeness in the text.

I went to Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp)

This time I would like to talk about Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp) near Noboribetsu Onsen, which I went to in September 2019.

Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp) is a swamp made of sulfur springs, a 10-minute drive from Noboribetsu Onsen. In addition to Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp), which is steamed and blackish gray, Mt.Hiyori's majestic atmosphere soars in the back, and I have felt the wild nature and magnificence of nature.

About "Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp)"

Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp) is a large marsh woth a circumference of about 1km , whici is less than 10 minutes by car from the hot spring town.

The feature of Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp) is that the water quality is a high-temperature sulfur spring.Due to its watar quality, the swamp has various colors such as milky white, black gray and dark green. The water temperature is 130 ° C at the bottom of the marsh and 40-50 ° C at the surface.Bubbles boil up in some places, and steam can be seen, giving the impression that it is a bit too powerful for a swamp.

To get to Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp) by car from Noboribetsu Onsen, you'll go through a mountain road, but it's relatively easy to visit.

It is possible to go on foot through the promenade, and you can go from Jigoku-Dani (Hell Valley) Observatory to Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp) in 30 minutes while enjoying the mountain path. There are some difficult roads, so we recommend that you prepare shoes that are easy to walk.

I'll be reporting on a blog about the walk from Jigoku-Dani (Hell Valley) Observatory to Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp) someday (^^)

From the observatory of Oyunuma (「Oku-no-yu observatory」), you can also see Mt.Hiyori.

It is a beautiful landscape where you can see various aspects of nature, such as the thick greenery, the strong mountain surface, the steam that springs up, and the marsh that creates a majestic atmosphere.

At the foot of Mt.Hiyori, I was able to see the deer eating hard.At the foot of Mt.Hiyori, I was able to see the deer eating hard.It was a very cute sight with a wild (^^)

I will spell out the details in the article “Noboribetsu Onsen Walk ⑤” that I will post next.

The road is almost a direct road.On the way, there is a fork once, so I think that you should be careful to see the signboard only at that time.

After passing through the mountain road, you will see a road running next to Oyunuma (Oyu Swamp). If you come to here, it is a little more to Oyunuma Parking Lot and Oku-no-yu Observatory.

Parking Lot

If you go straight along the road, you will see a large parking lot. I think that there is no problem because this is also easy to understand.

「Noboribetsu primeval forest」

There was a signboard for “Noboribetsu Primeval Forest”.

ーNationally designated Natural Monument Noboribetsu Primeval Forestー

 ”天然記念物登別原始林”は、北海道中帯南部の植物区系を代表する学術上貴重な天然林であることから、その保存を目的に185.86㌶が指定されています。

"Natural Monument Noboribetsu Primeval Forest is academically valuable natural forest which represents the Floristic region of the southern part of the central zone of Hokkaido ; therefore, 186hectare (460acre) have been designated for the purpose of its preservation.

Due to local hot springs and the close proximity to the sea, there is an abundance of plant life which favoring warm climates .there are about 170 species of known plants.About 60 species of trees, such as Mongolian oak and about 110 other species of plants grow here. However, because of excessive logging during World War Ⅱ and severe wind damage , the variety of plant life is diminishing.

There are also scenic spots such as Jigoku-dani and Oyunuma. You can relish in the beauty of the natural landscape of the Noboribetsu Primeval Forest, all year around.

ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

It's a precious environment. I would like to thank you and enjoy it.

There is a small swamp called “Oku-no-yu” on the other side of Oyunuma.
As the name suggests, it is a small and cute swamp.

Oku-no-yu

Oku-no-yu is very small compared to Oyunuma, but it boiles and bubbles rise, and it feels vital.

I feel the heat is stronger than “Tessen-Ike (Iron Spring Pond)” and “Oyunuma”.
In fact, when I looked into it, the surface temperature of Oku-no-yu was 75 ℃ to 85 ℃, which seems to be about 40 ℃ higher than Oyunuma.

Although it is difficult to convey in photos, here is the state of Oku-no-yu's boiled hot water.
Imagine how it is boiling (˘ω˘)

How to enjoy Oyunuma other than watching

I think there are the following ways to enjoy Oyunuma other than watching.
・Take a break at Japanese style gazebo (Introduced in the next heading)
・ Walk to the Oyunuma River natural footbath (Introduced in the article “Noboribetsu Onsen Walk ⑤” scheduled to be posted next)
I would appreciate it if you could refer to it (o ^^ o)

I ate yakisoba (^^ o)

There is a Japanese style gazebo in front of “Oku-no-yu”.
Here, I ate seafood yakisoba purchased at the takoyaki restaurant “Nagamori” in the hot spring town (o ^^) I feel like a picnic.

Seafood fried noodles

The wind was quite strong, and it was a lunchtime where we couldn't stay alert.I was able to experience the severity of nature. Lol
However, it was very delicious to eat in nature.

There are various shops where you can take out in Noboribetsu Onsen. It is recommended that you eat a take-out menu outside, such as this Oyunuma or Lake Kuttara introduced earlier.

By the way, there are pizzas, hamburgers, takoyaki, fried noodles, skewers, etc. that I could find out at the hot spring town shops.

(※Since there is a Garbage can, let's throw away trash firmly in the Garbage can.)

The shop that bought the seafood yakisoba this time is "Nagamori" ↓  Takoyaki and skewers are also delicious.
